How to setup your Metamask wallet

What is metamask?

Metamask is a cryptocurrency wallet available as browser extension. Its a software wallet used to interact with The Ethereum blockchain. It allows users to access their Ethereum wallet through a browser extension or mobile app.

Its the perfect choice managing ETH coins and ERC-20 tokens. Its a light node that allow users interact fully with the network without downloading the entire network.

It has a dApp called Ethereum dApp which is a representative with a simple interface, while hierarchical and deterministic security characteristic

Steps to follow to setup your Metamask wallet
1 Install metamask for your browser

Start by going to Metamask official site where you’ll get instructions on how to download the wallet. You’ll also know of all compatible browsers for the extension at the official site. Its currently compatible browsers are: Chrome, Firefox, Brave Microsoft Edge or as an app in playstore or app store.

2 Create an Account

Once the extension is installed you’ll land in the first selection screen. If its your first time setting up a software wallet choose the “create wallet” option. But if you have an existing wallet e.g. MyEtherWallet, Trust Wallet and you wish to transition over, choose the “import wallet” option

3 Create a wallet

Once you’ve selected create a new wallet you’ll be prompted
if you agree to MetaMask usage data gathering which you can
opt out later in the Metamask wallet settings

4 Create password

Create a password that you’ll be using to sign in to your metamask wallet account via web or the app

after the password you’ll choose a “secret backup phrase”

You then will receive a randomly generated string of words and be asked to confirm the phrase by entering it back into the site.

Once confirmed you’ll land at your main page of your Metamask wallet
